The "Why," not just "What"

One pattern runs through my 35+ years in IT: an intolerance for anything less than the objectively correct answer, applied equally to systems and to people. It traces back to a childhood drive to find out how things worked, and a gravitation toward symmetry, logic, and perfection. That's the same wiring behind my instinct to ask why, not just what.

Putting myself through college and reaching financial independence by 59 is lived proof that this pattern works. And I bring the professional version of that same eye to every project I take on.

Too often, developers over-engineer solutions, chasing the latest shiny thing instead of what's actually best for the customer. My goal is to use logic and real empathy to put myself in your shoes. I build systems that are right-sized for you, not systems that quietly tie you to me just to keep them running.

Credentials & Background

• 35+ years in IT (full-time since January 1991), spanning mainframes, mid-range, and PC/Web with a core strength in Microsoft technologies.
• Director, Procurement Development at Euna Solutions (2023–2025) across three commercial SaaS procurement products (Bonfire, Ion Wave, DemandStar), leading a team of ~50.
• VP of Product Development at Ion Wave Technologies (2015–2023) after serving as Director of Software Development (2011–2015).
• Berry-Tech Studio has run continuously since 2000, operating concurrently with my full-time roles.
• Designed, built, and hold the copyright on a custom software platform for Pinnacle Pet, the largest pet distributor in the Midwest.
